Links of the Rising Sun: Where High Culture Meets Great Golf
Golf doesn't leap to mind when we think of Japan: but then neither should Mount Fuji, Hiroshima, and the Nikkei.

Widely considered the world's most endearing, mystical, and esoteric culture, let us show you the Japan the guide books have missed out on, and the top links in the Land of the Rising Sun.

In Tokyo, the world's largest metropolis, that's the uberprivate Kasumigaseki, playground for the business elite. Take in the organized chaos of the morning fish market (and barter over two-ton bluefin, if you please), and a traditional Sumo wrestling match. In Hakone, it's the city's legendary namesake guesthouse and the Hakone Country Club. At our next stop, Kawana, it's a night's stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan, and golf at the Hotel Fuji course. In Kyoto, we'll bring you the traditional Japanese teahouse experience, and the rest of the way, it's Kobe steak dinners and Miyajima sightseeing, and memorable rounds of golf at Naruo, Koga, and Hirono; the last a magical layout, ranked 35th in the world, that since 1932 has been an exemplar of exclusive golf in a country that exalts its bests. Nothing evokes golf envy in Japan like getting on Hirono.

Add-On
On the way home, consider a one-night stopover on South Korea's 'Maui,' Jeju Island, for a round at Nine Bridges (ranked #55 in the World), widely considered the most dramatic golf setting in East Asia.
